During the coronavirus epidemic and the fall of the ruble, many Russians chose to invest in the purchase of toilet paper, matches, buckwheat, pasta and other necessities.

But let's digress from grocery affairs and take up financial matters, that is, studying how you can earn money, or at least not lose your savings in a crisis year.

We have studied the current recommendations of many Russian and foreign financial market experts and present you the top 10 expert advice on where to invest in the 2020 crisis.

10. Bank deposit

Even during the global crisis, banks continue to open short-term and long-term deposits. It is only necessary to choose one of the most reliable banks according to the Central Bank, to be sure that your savings will not disappear with the bank's management on one terrible day.

According to experts, the most profitable deposits as of March 2020 for new investors are:

  • Guaranteed Profitability from Premier BCS Bank. The investment term is 6 months, the yield is 10%.
  • "Profitable income" from a bank PJSC Moscow Credit Bank with a yield of 7.3% per annum and for a period of 375 days. It is intended for those who open an individual investment account.
  • "A good start" from Ural Bank for a period of up to 120 days and with a yield of up to 6.5% per annum.

You can split your financial “airbag” into several parts and make deposits in several banks. If you suddenly need money urgently, it will be possible to close a deposit in one of the banks, and the remaining deposits will remain and will bring you income.

9. PAMM investing

This is a high-risk, but also highly profitable way to earn money during a crisis, which is suitable for those who carefully study the recommendations for choosing a broker to open a PAMM account.

Unlike a bank deposit, there is no need to invest from 50,000 rubles or more in order to get a good income. Many PAMM accounts accept minimum deposits of $ 50, while offering annual returns of 111% or even higher.

8. Investing in antiques

Antique paintings, coins, watches, and other antiques (aged 100 years and older) become more expensive over time. However, it is better not to invest in furniture, unlike antique wines and watches, it loses value. According to Forbes, over 10 years, the cost of many pieces of furniture antiques has fallen by 80%.

It is better for new investors to start with old coins (for example, coins from the times of the USSR), porcelain, which decorate the house and are in stable demand, or from paintings.

The most common risk that not only a novice can face, but also guarded the antique market - fakes. They are often found in flea markets and online auctions, and rarely in antique shops and in-person auctions, where the goods are guaranteed authenticity.

7. Real estate

Against the backdrop of collapsed demand due to the crisis and stably high supply, you can buy an attractive apartment, house or garage cheaper than a year ago. Subsequently, the investment can be “repulsed” by renting the property.

The main problem with such an investment during the crisis of 2020 is that the fall in property prices may continue. And in the future it will cost even less, so it will not be profitable to resell it to you.

6. Buying a car

In conditions when most Russians prefer to buy medicines, Zewa toilet paper and Altai buckwheat, car dealers do not have to rely on an influx of customers.

And this means that you can buy one of the most inexpensive sedans or even a luxury car at a good discount. The main thing is not to be lazy, to visit several car dealerships and not to be shy to tell the seller that in another salon they offered a discount of one percent. Perhaps they will make you an offer even more generously.

5. Stocks

During world crises, stocks of various companies can fall many times, and then return to their historic highs. A striking example from the recent past is Sberbank shares. During the 2008 crisis, they fell 84% below the offering price, reaching 13.5 rubles, and then rose sharply over the next three years.

During the 2020 crisis, it is wise to invest only in “blue chips” - shares of large companies that will not go bankrupt and will not disappear from the market.

4. Land

One of the most reliable options where to invest during the 2020 crisis. Nobody will steal the earth, it will not take it away, and if you invest in it, it can bring considerable benefits, at least in the form of a crop.

There are many attractive options on the market, but the demand for them is falling due to a decrease in the purchasing power of Russians. We recommend that you pay attention to areas with already completed communications, or, at least, having an easy possibility of their supply. Since in modern conditions the conduct of water, electricity and gas to the site can turn into a very difficult quest.

3. Own education

The time when many enterprises close (and not only quarantine due to coronavirus) can be used for self-education. For example, learn a foreign language or take an online course in web design. This will increase the chances of finding a new job or will allow you to work for yourself without leaving your home.

Remember: your knowledge is your main capital in a crisis.

2. Purchase of federal loan bonds

One of the most affordable options if you do not earn, then at least save your savings in 2020.

OFZ yield is at the level of the best bank deposits, so in any case you will have up to 7-10% per annum. Bond yields are higher the longer they mature.

You can buy bonds through IIS, and then arrange a personal income tax return. You will return 13% of the amount spent on IIS, but not more than 52 thousand rubles a year. OFZ purchase is made on the Moscow Exchange through any Russian broker, after opening an IIS or a brokerage account.

1. Precious metals

Gold bullion, investment gold coins or an impersonal metal account is the best investment, not only during a crisis, but also in calm times.

And although about the prospects for the growth of the cost of gold, as the most stable precious metal, various experts express completely opposite opinions (some believe that it will not go up, others - that it will definitely go up), they agree on one thing - gold will not sharply fall in price. So, it will not depreciate what can happen with foreign currency and is already happening with the Russian ruble.

In order to profitably invest your money during the crisis of 2020, you can open the so-called “depersonalized metal account”. Precious metal purchased from a bank is placed on such an account. At the same time, it will not be physically in your hands, which means that you don’t have to worry about buying a safe and the subsequent sale of precious metals.

No VAT is charged on such a transaction, and the MHI account can be closed at any time without fines or loss of savings. And the risks are that such an account is not insured by the state, no interest is accrued on it, and the bank can set any rate for the purchase and sale of "non-cash" metal.
