And in order to choose the best of the best, experts from the Spanish Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) examined the average life and reliability of large household appliances of the most popular brands among European consumers. For this, the experience of over 90,000 consumers from different EU countries was systematized, who named the type and brand of their household appliances, and also talked about the number of breakdowns and the general level of satisfaction with these devices.
Based on the research results, a rating of the most reliable manufacturers of household appliances in 2020 was compiled.
10. Thomson
OCU gave this brand an honorable third place in the “longevity” of refrigerators - 12 years and 11 months. Better performance only at Zanussi and Miele. However, in other categories, the brand’s products are not represented, therefore it was in tenth place.
9. General Electric
The American corporation seeks to bring convenience to consumers' homes with its functional and durable refrigerators, which last 12 years and 8 months on average.
And although the brand was among the outsiders in terms of the durability of washing machines (10 years and 8 months), it managed to rehabilitate itself in the category of “dishwashers” (10 years and 8 months).
8. Smeg
The Italian manufacturer of household appliances entered the top ten most reliable brands in 2020 thanks to its excellent washing machines, which last 11 years and 6 months on average.
Dishwashers of this brand also have impressive vitality - an average of 11 years.
Smeg was also in the top five brands whose household appliances breaks least often. What can I say? Must take!
7. Bosch
The Bosch brand makes cooktops, gas stoves, and also refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines especially well.

And, as the OCU researchers noted, in terms of the frequency of breakdowns of washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and refrigerators, the Beko brand is one of the most reliable manufacturers of household appliances in the world.

This brand produces reliable and long-lived household appliances. Users rarely complain about the breakdown of dishwashers, washing machines, dryers and refrigerators of this brand.
2. Zanussi
This is one of the best brands of household appliances when it comes to the life of washing machines. According to the conclusions of OCU experts, the brand's washing machines live on average 11 years and 3 months.
It is curious that the brand that produces the most long-lived equipment and the most reliable equipment is not necessarily the same. So, although Zanussi produces washing and dishwasher-centenarians, it does not take first place in the reliability table by the number of breakdowns.
1. Miele
The German brand Miele was chosen as the leader in durability in all analyzed categories: in washing machines, refrigerators, dryers and dishwashers.
Miele refrigerators last 13 years and 1 month on average, washing machines last even longer - 15 years and 10 months, dishwashers last more than 14.5 years, and dryers last 15 years and 4 months.
There is only one drawback of household appliances of this brand: since Miele products are usually high-end, they cost more than competitors.

- From the point of view of reliability, which was measured by the frequency and importance of breakdowns, Sharp, Neff and Saivod came out on top in the “refrigerators” category.
